Riders on the Storm

If you’d told me on 12th January that, within six months, the Project would be a cover feature in a major national weekend magazine, I’d have been dumbfounded.

However, on 4th July, I found myself walking to a supermarket in Portishead to purchase a few copies of exactly that — The Lifeboat Station Project featuring in The Independent on Independence Day!

Under the cover title Riders on the Storm, Steve ‘Tag’ Saint stared at the nation for the first time…

I’ll never forget 7th March in Aldeburgh, the day that Tag and I stood in Neena watching those piercing eyes appear from the fixer tray.

It was such a special moment but neither of us could have foreseen that it would become this special.

Inside, two double-page spreads showcased a selection of photographs along with some beautiful words that not only summed up the Project but also the work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

A LIMITED SUPPLY…

Courtesy of The Independent, a limited supply of these magazines have landed at Project HQ.

I’ve signed a handful of them to include with new print orders — if you’d like one, simply let me know when ordering your limited edition print(s) and I’ll be happy to tuck one into the envelope for you:

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

My sincere thanks to Annalee Mather — Picture Editor at The Independent Weekend Magazine — for showing such interest, enthusiasm and faith in my work.

It’s hugely appreciated and I’ll be forever proud of this, the first time the Project was featured in the national press.

  1. Brilliant idea – fingers crossed you complete it on schedule!
Do you have any plans to publish all the photos in a large format book at all?
Could be a substantial money raiser for the RNLI…
