Shipshape for Mission Two

The sunset on arrival at Southend-on-Sea...

I’m writing this from a seaside guesthouse in Southend-on-Sea.

After a long drive from Newcastle, my soul was instantly nourished by the sea lapping at the shore and the sun sinking over Southend Pier…

Tomorrow’s glass is polished and an old friend — also a kind volunteer — is about to arrive from the train station.

Now, just as it did last month at the start of the inaugural mission, everything feels shipshape for the second mission, which starts tomorrow morning.

Things are different now, of course. As I wrote at the time, my nerves were jangling ahead of visiting the very first station — Southwold — on 12th January.

This evening, with everything honed and ready, I simply can’t wait to get started again after the successes of the last few weeks.

Fingers crossed, of course, that this journey goes at least as smoothly as the last (I’m never complacent, you see)…

THANK YOU

I’d like to thank all those who’ve supported the Project to this point — it’s truly moving to see so many of you recognising the value in the photographs I’m making.

Remember, although the RNLI are supporting me logistically, I’m currently raising the funding under my own steam — in essence, my own form of crowdfunding.

Print sales, pre-orders and donations are, quite frankly, the oxygen of The Lifeboat Station Project:
